🍀The Three Date Rule
Consider giving each new candidate three dates before making any final decisions. Why three? It is enough time to get to know someone beyond the initial meeting. The first date may be filled with nerves and unreliable first impressions, the second is a chance to dive deeper into each other’s interests, and by the third date, you will have a clear sense of whether there is potential for a meaningful connection. Singles expect to feel chemistry instantly, and for some, this can happen, but others need a slow build-up before the butterflies take over. Also, the flame that burns too fast can burn out quickly. We have all been there, right?
🍀Striking Out vs. Getting a Hit
We advise our clients to adopt the “three strikes you’re out” mentality. It’s easy to jump to conclusions based on minor imperfections or differences. Allow for a more comprehensive understanding of who they are and if your connection has long-term potential. Bonus: This shows you have humility, encourages patience, open-mindedness, and a willingness to look beyond the surface. A strike is called when the ball is over the plate–and missed. Give your new candidate two more chances “at bat” or you are not playing fair.
🍀STAY PRIVATE: Stop Telling Your Friends Everything!
While it’s natural to seek validation and feedback from those closest to us, it’s important not to fall into the trap of OVER SHARING your dating journey on or offline. This journey is yours and yours only. Misery loves company, so watch out for people who are in unhealthy relationships or are single but not interested in a relationship. Dodge negativity.
